It is a general practice
in Ifa divination system to invoke Ifa energies and pay homage before you embarking
on Ifa consultation or divination. The act of doing this is known as Ijuba .
The Awo must known what to say and what to do. Below is the documentation of
one of such short Ifa Invocation as document by Babalawo Obanifa. The essence
of first conducting homage before Ifa divination or Ifa consultation is to is
invoke divinities to divinely guide the diviner to truth and for the result of
the divination to reveal unequivocal truth.

Homage to the dawn of the
day
Homage to the setting of
the sun
Do not make good
revelation, when indeed the message is evil
Do not make bad Revelation
when indeed the message is good
Do not speak in stammer
and deceitful voice
If you see good says it
If you see evil says it.
