In this current work Babalawo
Obanifa will document one Orisa Prayer available in Africa Spirituality that
can be used to pray and harness the energies of Orisa Obatala during Obatala
yearly or weekly veneration. Obatala is one of the divinities in Africa
Spirituality that is deem as divinity of the white clothe. This divinity is known
by other name such as Orisa Nla, In different town In Yoruba Land, Obatala can
have different name . For Example in Ejigbo town Obatala is known as Orisa
Ogiyan.In Ila Orangun town Obatala is known as Aworo Ose. In Ikire
Obatala is known as Orisa Aire. Everything
about Obatala Is white. The symbols of Obatala that is normally filled the
shrine of Obatala is Efun ( Efun is variety of local white chalks). The food
Items and Ingredient for the feeding of Obatala is usually snails, and Obi Ifin
(mature white color Cola nut). The water that is fetch early in the morning is
the water that can be used to venerate Obatala . You can not use water that has
been previously fetch in the house since yesterday. The Obatala devotees are
found of using white beads and pure white clothes. The whiteness and purity nature
and clothing make it known that Obatala love purity both in deeds and outlooks.
