In this work Babalawo Obanifa will explore in detail the concept of exercising the power of faith through Ifa spirituality. Everyone knows that faith plays a significant role in our spiritual growth, but practically speaking it either occupies too much or too little of our understanding. If our conception of spiritual growth is nothing more than self-effort, we will not experience life transformation. Faith is one of the most important things an individual need to have purposeful life. It is through faith that you will discover your purpose in life. It is the faith that act as pathway to finding solutions to any problem or challenges in life. Let me tell you, without faith, no individual can subdue and overcome life stress, fear and anxiety, faith is the only Instrument through which you bring Olodumare(God) and Universal energy to divinely interfere in your affair. So, you can see that faith is important to sail through life physically and spiritually successfully. Faith is the hardest thing to possess in this world, and yet it is faith that is the most important thing for human beings. Faith leads us to true happiness – the kind of happiness which cannot be destroyed by everlastingly changing circumstances and conditions of this world.

What then do I mean by faith within the context of this work? Wikipedia give concise definition of faith thus: Faith, derived from Latin fides and Old French feid,^[1] is confidence or trust in a person, thing, or concept.^[1][2] In the context of religion, one can define faith as "belief in God or in the doctrines or teachings of religion".^[3] Religious people often think of faith as confidence based on a perceived degree of warrant,^[4][5] while others who are more skeptical of religion tend to think of faith as simply belief without evidence.^[6] .

So complete trust or confidence in someone or something is what is known as faith. From religion perspective faith connote strong belief in the doctrines of a religion, based on spiritual conviction rather than proof. But in this work, we are concern with Spirituality, we are not concern with Religion. So the discussion of faith in this work will concern mainly on how you can harness power of faith and use it to improve the quality of your life.

In using power of faith to improve the quality of your life. It is through right thinking, believe and Hope. There is a saying that you can never feature in the future that you never picture. It is the power faith that will make you picture the future you want. It is the fundamental law of nature that you can never have anything physically until you have first picture it in your mind. So, if you did not first see thing in your mind and believe it physically through the power of faith, you cannot get it physically. Since it is the faith that act as pathway to finding solutions to any problem or challenges in life. It help us to subdue and overcome life stress, fear and anxiety, faith is the only instrument through which you bring Olodumare(God) and Universal energy to divinely interfere in your affair. It is therefore essential you have faith in pursuing and carrying out your life activities. The question now is how do you have faith. Faith is not a thing that come naturally to people on its own. There is condition precedent to having faith. And that condition is Hope. You cannot build something on nothing. You can not build a house without foundation. Hope is the foundation of faith. The two are complementary. No body can exercise faith without having Hope.

An hopeful person will be said to be a person who have faith. Without hope you will become faithless. An hopeless person is an helpless person. It is through the power of hope that you can exercise faith. Hope is the breeding ground for the operation of faith. If you can not see it in your mind and hope for it, no faith will deliver it to you physically. So Hope is the bedrock of faith. I will even say hope is faith, because faith cannot produce anything that you have not Hope for. The truth of life is that, if you cannot see it in your mind you cannot have it. Hopelessness is the only reason for Helplessness. It is only through Hope that you can stimulate your faith. Hope will make you lose all your fear of failure and live fully as human being.

What then is Hope? since Hope is fundamental foundation of faith. Hope is nothing more than something good that you want to happen in the future, or a confident feeling about what will happen in the future . The feeling that what is wanted can be had or that events will turn out for the best. The definition of hope is a feeling of optimism or a desire that something will happen. An individual will be deemed to be hopeful when he/she believes that and feel that what he/she want will eventually happen. Odu Ifa Otura Ose says if human being fail to cultivate the habit of hopefulness and faith in their life pursuit ,business, work, relationship etc. It will be difficult to achieve success. On this Otura Ose says:

Igi nla lo binu o ya ite sinu Igbo

Abata segisegi ko le ko eja lomon lo

Dia fun Oyangbe ti fun Irugbin di Amodun

Omo Ode ni ti gbogbo re ba ra monle nko

Omo Onyagbeni mo ni Ireti

Mo si ni Igbagbo

Pe ni iwoyi Amodun eso woti-woti lorun ebe

Ebo ni woni ko se

O si gbo ebon be o rubo

Igba to di Amodun Isu bokua-bokua lorun ebe

Lai si Ireti

La si igbagbo

Eni ki la

Iyanju ni agbe n gba Olorun Oba ni mu isu ta

Translation

The big tree out of anger gigantically establish itself in the forest

Abata segisegi (the swampy water body) cannot carry away the children of the fish(fingerlings)

This was Ifa’s message for Onyagbe (the farmer) who is planting seeds ahead of coming year

The Hunter said , what if all the seeds get decay inside the ground

The farmer said I have hope

And I have faith

That by this time next year there will be plenty of fruits at the necks of the ridges

He was advised to offer ebo

He heard of the ebo and complied

In the coming year, he is harvesting big-bi yam at the neck of the ridges

Without Hope

Without faith

One cannot be successful

The farmer only try his own effort, it is God that make yam germinate to maturity.

You can see from this Odu Otura Ose where a farmer is planting seeds inside the ground. But other is afraid that it will get decay. But he exercises faith, and he have a bountiful harvest. Think of it. If not for hope and faith while will farmer put small seeds of maze, yam set or other plants in the ground and expect a bountiful harvest. think of it. We live on faith and hope. Nature show us through agriculture that produce us food to it eat that is through faith and hope that human can record success. Yet we are always afraid to apply faith to our life, business, and professional career. Faith is one of the principles of universal law of success. Faith must be applied to record success.

It may come to your mind that; how then do I apply faith. Faith is with you already you just need to use it. By believing in Olodumare (God) and nature that it will bring your wishes to manifestation once you make your own effort. Erase all doubt. Believe in Olodumare(God) and universal energies that it will help you to attain your goals in life. On this Odu Ifa Ejiogbe says:

Gbogbo e,Gbogbo e o di tire oo

Dia fun Akapo ti n sunkun pe ohun o rire

Ebo ni won ni ko se

O gbo ebon be , o rubo
