Babalawo Obanifa will documents some of the spiritual formula available in
Africa Spirituality that hunters from day of the old normally use to attracts
luck during hunting and also spiritual fortification of their self against evil
intents of fellow hunters. Since ancient times, hunting has been one the main
source of survival and existence for the indigenous population of Africa.
In the nature of things,
luck does not always accompany the hunter. Therefore, with the help of a spells,
sacrifices, the hunters asked for good luck, trying to placate the host spirit
of the forest, on which luck seemed to depend. Majorly the hunters do venerate
Ogun (god Of Iron) to have successful hunting. It is believed the more Ogun(god
of Iron) was pleased, the more luck accompanied the hunter. . And many hunters
believe that luck to some extent depends on the favor of the host spirit of the
forest. Therefore, those beliefs were expressed in numerous rules, objects, prohibitions
and ceremonies, using of charms and spell. It is some of the charms that area available
for this purpose that I will be documenting in this work. Below are documentation
os such formula and the uses.
Ogun Masanwoboko ( Spells
For Hunter Not To Come Back From Hunting
Empty -Handed)

Preparation
When the hunter wants to
go on hunting. He will find all the items mentioned in the lists. He will
squeeze them together to fine paste. He will urinate on it. He will use it to rob the body of the gun he wants
to take for hunting.
He will say the following
recitation known as Ofo:
Ito Owuro ki gbe sinu
Epin pin eran temi fun mi
Iwo lo pin Afomo to fi
joba lori igi Oko
Translation
The money urine will
never be lost inside the bladder

Result-
The hunter will not come back from hunting without empty -handed killing a game
IFUNWO ODE (SPELL TO FREE
HUNTER FROM SPIRITUAL BONDAGE)
When hunters discover that
he can no longer go on hunting and see any animal to kill. If this persist for
a very long period. Such hunter will be deemed to be under spiritual bondage. In
such situation this is the spiritual formula to free the hunter.
Ewe Ailu meje(leaves of Secamone Afzelii/Macrosphyra longistyia).
Eyo Ataare meje( seven seeds of alligator pepper)
Okun (tiny rope)
Preparation
You will put one seeds of
alligator pepper inside one Ewe ailu. You will place it one after the others until
it reaches seven. You will use rope to tie or bind it together. You will then
put inside a burning flame for a minute. The rope would have been burn and
unbind the leaves. You will quickly remove it. Any amount of ashes that you can
gather from the leaves and rope will be added to water. The hunter will use it
wash his hands.

(21 seeds of Alligator Pepper/Aframomum Melegueta)

Preparation
You will throw water outside.
You will quickly take little out the sand where pour this water. You will burn
it with other aforementioned items. You will pour inside Efe Owu(cotton wool)
You will severe the head of a cock. You drip it blood on it. You will make it
to talisman. The hunter will be having it on him when he was going for hunting.

Preparation and Usage
You will eat the
alligator in mouth. You will chew the two roots mention as chew sticks. You
will spite it content at the base of your gun.

the hunter must not bring the chew stick he use for this purpose back home

You will pound the aforementioned items with ose dudu
(local black soap ) .
Usage: The hunter will be using the soap to watch his
hand and base of his gun before going for hunting.
Before usage. The hunter must say the following recitation:
Oriri ki wa nkan Igbo ti
Ori ki wo Igbo ko ma ko Emimo
Epin ko pin eran temi fun mi
Iwo lo pin fun afomon to fi ga ju gbogbo erna Igbo lo
Translation
Oriri don’t find it difficult to discover what is in
the bush
Head will not enter forest with coming with some
leaves hangs on it

Preparation
You will pound the aforementioned with soap.
Usage
The hunter will be bathing with whenever he is going
for hunting.

Koko Osun(camwood stick)
Edo okete(liver of bush rat)
Edo Ekute(liver of house rat)

Preparation
You will grind the Koko Osun(camwood stick),Edo okete(liver
of bush rat),Edo Ekute(liver of house rat),Panumon abo,Panumon abafe,Epo amuje . You will then mix it with Adin (red palm
kernel oil). You pour it insde iwo Ako Etu (Horn of male deer)
Usage
The hunter will be using it to rub his gun and gun
before going on it.
The hunter will say the following recitation to it:
Aba loni ki eran wa bami loni
Puru ni ewu n tu
A ki fi ogiri
sile ki ekule ma ri

You will pound it together with soap.
Usage
The hunter will be using the soap to wash his hands
where two rivers or streams meet. With the recitation below

Omi meji ki san ko ma pade

Pade Pade niti Ikoko
Two rivers will never flow without having point of
meetings.

Preparation
Preparation
Boil the aforementioned items together with water.
Pour it is your gun and leave it overnight. On the second you will pour it out
and clean the gun for usage.
