This work will document one of the powerful chant or recitation available in African spiritual that can be use to stop rain  when it is about to fall . This is a chant to stop rain from coming to a town or place or you right before it falls. When it starts getting dark, chant this with lots of feeling and conviction. It may lead to postpone  of the falling of such rain or total cancel of such rain from falling . The recitation goes thus:
Awonranran ni oruko ti a n pe Ifa
Alafunfunkanle ni oruko ti a n pe osan
Ti ito ba bale seni yo eruku monra
Ofun rara ni oruko ti a n pe Eji
O bale se kata-kata ni oruko ti a n pe ojo
Dia fun orunmila lojo ti n ti ikole orun bo wale aye
Oju su si waju
Ojos u seyin
Orunmila ni ki ojo foo
Nitori Ojo Iwaju ki pa olobahun
Ojo eyin ki pa Igbin
Translation
Awonranran  is the name of  Ifa
Alafunfunkanle is the name of Osan(the afternoon)
When saliva touch the ground it will gather dust
Ofun is the name  Eji(dust)
O bale se kata-kata  is the name of ojo(rain)
This was Ifa’s message for Orunmila when is coming from heaven to earth
Rain was about to fall in the front
Rain was about to fall at the back
Orunmila said that the rain should disappear

The rain of the front cannot drench the tortoise
Rain from the back cannot drench the snail
