herbal medicine for the treatment Leprosy. Asian Ete is the term use to describe leprosy
in Yoruba herbal medicine parlance . By leprosy within the context of this work
we are referring to a
chronic infectious disease caused by a mycobacterium (Mycobacterium leprae)
affecting especially the skin and peripheral nerves and characterized by the
formation of nodules or macules that enlarge and spread accompanied by loss of
sensation with eventual paralysis, wasting of muscle, and production of
deformities . It is also called Hansen's
diseases. Below are documentation of effective herbal formulas available in
Yoruba Herbal medicine for the treatment
of leprosy.

Ewe osan wewe(fresh leaves of lime orange tree(citrus
aurantifolia)
Isu aridan/Aidan(Fleshy part of Tetrapleura Tetratpetra)
Eeru Alamon(xylopia aethiopica)
Baaka(Glodiolus Psitacinus)
Ose dudu(local black soap)
Preparation
You will pound and grind the aforementioned items together and
mixed it with local black soap.
Usage
The patient will be bathing with it.

Egbo Inabiri(Plumbago Zeylanica)
Egbo Asofeyeje(roots of rauvolia Vomitoria)
Imi ojo(Sulphur)
Kanhun bilala(Trona)
Ose dudu (local black soap)
Preparation
You will grind and pound the aforementioned item together
and mix it with soap
Usage
You will be bathing with the soap ,You will also be apply
the soap to your body as soap.

Aso waji(unidentified)
Enu kopire(Euphorbia Laterifolia)
Eeru Awonka(Xylopia arthopica)
Egbo Arunpale(Ocimum Canum)
Preparation
You will pound and grind the aforementioned item together .
Usage
You will be bathing with it.

Roro Odan(uindentfied)
Ewe Ejinrin wewe(leaves of Mormodica charantia)
Imi ojo(Sulphur)
Ako kahnun(Trona)
Preparation
You will grind the aforementioned items together to fine
paste and mix it with Adin dudu (black palm kernel oil and Ori (sheabutter).
Usage
You will be applying it as cream to rub your body.

Ewe abamonda(resurrection plants)
Ewe Banimeran(Unidentfied)
Etu Ibon(Gun powder)
Preparation
You will grind the aforementioned item together and mix it
with ose dudu local black soap. You will also mix part of it with Adin
dudu(palm kernel oil).
You will be bathing with it and apply the one you mix with
palm kernel as cream over your body.

Eso lara pupa (fruits of Rincinus Communis )
Odindi atare kan(A whole alligator pepper)
Iyere lopo(Plenty Piper Guinesis)
Preparation
You will boil it
Usage
Drink one glass of it two times daily.

Ewe Awin(Dialium Guinenses)
Egbo Ogurugu(roots of unidentified plants)
Eeru awonka (xylopia aethopica)
Preparation
You will boil the aforementioned items together

You will be drinking one glass of it two times daily.
