MAKING OF EBO (SACRIFICE ) IN YORUBA IFA SPIRITUALITY BY BABALAWO OBANIFA -Obanifa extreme documentaries
In this work Babalawo
Obanifa will reveal and document one of the most efficient practical step by step
method available in Yoruba spirituality that a practicing Babalawo can use to conduct
acceptable ebo(for their prospective client). It is instructive to note that

prescribe ebo for the client during the reading. After the material for the ebo
and money profesionl fess of the Awo have been perfected. The material
,ranginging from Eko(wraps of corn meal. Akara(beans cake) adiye (hen)etc. will
bee arrange on ground. The awo will peel the leaves from the eko and pace them
inside Tasa(clay pot for making ebo) and put the Akara in it as well. After the
eko has been prepare. If the animal to be use is hairy . The animal is use to
touch the head and the chest of the client (that is if the client is present)and
little hair will be cut from the head part and thrown into the Eko.If the
animal is feather animal like hen,pegion,guinea fowls e etc. The animal will be sued to touch the head and chest of
the person three times ,The two feathers longer than the two wings will be
removed and fits into the eko ebo.The
Babalawo will sit on the mat with the opon Ifa (Ifa divination tray)in front of
him while the person that the ebo will
be conduct for will sit opposite to him
.The material for the ebo and opon ifa will be in the middle of both of them
while they sit facing each others. The Awo who want to perform the ebo will
pour sufficient Iyerosun(Ifa consultation powder) on the opon Ifa. He will
mark or imprint three Odu Ifa on the opon . Firstly he must start imprinting from
right side of the Opon Ifa to the left. You will first imprint Odu Ifa Ose
Otura, follow by the Odu ifa that appear for the prospective client during the
ifa consulation,follow by opposite odu or odu that is contrary to the Odu that
appear during the Ifa consultation you imprint Ogbe Iwori the contrary Odu will
be Iwori Ogbe. Then the awo must be home ready to chant the following Odu ifa I

The prospective client to
whom the ebo is to be conducted for if present will bring forth money to the
Babalawo , the Babalawo will take the money ,he will take the obi Abata oloju
merin (kolanut with four lobes) he will splits it to four . he will use his
teeth to cut each lobe of the cola nut to four pieces each. It will be sixteen
in total. You will place the chopped cola nut on the money and you will add
sixteen cowries to the money and handed it back to the prospective client you
want to conduct the ebo for.The prospective clients that need the ebo will take
it and hold it with his two hands and pray on it silently or loudly on his/her
need or the purpose in which he conduct the ebo.he/she will handed it back to
the Babalawo after the prayer. The Awo will put it on opon ifa and chant the
following Ifa incantation thus:

The Awo will take the snail
and use it to touch the head of the clients and break the snail and put it
water on the ebo. He will shake this hand and use one of the snail to dust the
body of the clients and say:

take water and sprinkle little on the ebo .
The Awo will then chant

This was Ifa message for
Aranisan

At this stage the Awo can
use opele divination chain or obi or even cowries to ask through yes orvno
question from Ifa if the ebo have been accepted , If ifa say yes. The Awo will
aske where the ebo will be accepted .either is Esu shrine, atana,aworokoto, Orita etc.The Awo
will then give a kolanut or cowries to the clients to pray again on the purpose of the ebo. The Awo can
be singing Iyere ifa )ifa songs) when the clients is praying. Below are extract
of Iyere Ifa that can be sing on such occasion

The client will stretch
forth his/her hand while the . the Awo
will put little iyerosun from the Opon ifa. The client awo will say to -to ko

odu Ifa Okaran Osa on the right side of the opon Ifa and Imprint the odu that
come out of the ifa consultation for the client that gave rise to ebo . Okanran
osa is imprinted thus;

to touch the floor in front of the opon ifa and say :

If it touch the floor it
should be accepted in heaven.
The client if present can
then take the ebo to Esu shrine. If he come back . You can then chant odu ifa osa odi.
