This work will make available detail information on how to consecrate Esu  Yangi in Yoruba Ifa tradition by any practicing Babalawo.  Esu in in Yoruba tradition is different from from Biblical  Satan or Lucifer of Christian or Jewish tradition, Esu in Yoruba tradition is also different from Satan of Islamic tradition’s. Esu in Yoruba Ifa tradition is one of the Irumonle and he is one of the messenger of Olodumare ( God). Esu in Yoruba Ifa spirituality is known as Esu Onile Orita ( Orisa of The Cross Road). Esu is the message carrier between the heaven and Earth. This is the main reason why all the human being and all Orisa  and Irumonle  present their ebo( sacrifice to Esu).And this also account for the reason why they also pay homage to Esu before sending Esu on  a mission. The Esu been refer to here in Yoruba Spirituality is known as Esu Elegbara( messanger of Olodumare that link both heaven and earth), there is Esu Ebita which normally do evil, that may be the devil that can be compare to the Christian devil. In Yoruba spirituality and culture. Esu Elegbera is represent by Yangi ( latrite). It must be stress here that many item like sigidi (moulded clay). That many practicing Babalawo or spiritualist with shallow knowledge and technical know-how of Ifa cosmology do use to symbol and represent Esu Elegbara is not acceptable as Esu Elegbera. Sigidi (molded clay )can never be used to represent  Esu Elegbera. Sigidi is a molded clay with  which is usually mold in human image , it will get head, eyes, nose, ear,  hand , navel and sometime even leg, this is known as sigidi not Esu Elegbera. This mistake must be corrected as we still see many practicing Babalawo who still use mistaken  sigidi and Esu as  the same thing . This must be corrected for future and posterity.Yang(Latrite )is the correct symbol Of Esu Yangi.it in this vain that Babalawo Obanifa will in this work explain and document in detail how to consecrate Esu yangi.

Consecration Of Esu Yangi In Yoruba Spirituality By Babalawo  Obanifa

To consecrate Esu Yangi, you will need the following:

Yangi ( Laterite)

Akukodiye( A cock)

Imi Ojo( Sulphur)

Ewe Esinsin( leaves of Trageia Tenuifolia or Tenufolia Tragia Spathulata)

Ewe Abamoda ( Resurection plant with scientific name Bryophylum Pinnatum).

 Take the leave of Trageia Tenufolia And resurrection plant together, use water to squeeze it to obtain it juice. Use the water to wash the Yangi. Dig a hole were you want to put the Esu Yangi. Grind the Imi ojo to fine Powder. Pour it inside it and use it to imprint Odu ifa Ogunda Ogbe also known as Ogundabede thus:

 Then recite the following Ifa incantation on it from Holy Odu Ogunda Ogbe :

Esin ja, esin njeko

Bi Eniyan  ba  n rin

A  wo sun

Akiri yi aye ka loruko Ojo

Esu Odara kiri ka origun merin aye yii

Gbogbo ibi ti mo ba ran o lo ni ki o de

Ojumo o nii mo ki Orun ma la

Aba ti Abamoda  bat i da ni Orisa Oke n gba

Bi akuko ba ko

A fi  ona Ilu han eni  to sina

Translation

The horse broke loose and was eating grasses

When a human being walks

He will observe his environment

He who moves round the earth is the name of Ojo( the sun)

Esu Odara move round the four corners of this Earth

Wherever I send you, you must go

There is no morning that the sun will not rise

It is the proposal of Abamoda(( Resurection plant with scientific name Bryophylum Pinnatum). that the Orisa Oke do  accept

Whenever the cock crows
