PRAYERS OF THANKSGIVINGS
Ifa Prayers Of Gratitude By Babalawo Obanifa
This
work shall examine one of the prayers that can be use by Ifa and Orisa devotees
or any believer in Yoruba spirituality , to show appreciation to Olodumare, the
Orisa and Irunmole or even their fellow humans been in appreciation for good
things they have done in their life. Gratitude is one of the key to success and
abundant blessings. Gratitude simply refer to the quality of been thankful or
readiness to show appreciation and to return gesture of kindness
received. It is a state of being grateful. A feeling of showing appreciation.
It is said to come from the Latin words Gratus, that's is been grateful. Yoruba
Ifa spiritualilty teaches that it is good for receipeint of certain
favors,blessimg, etc in one or the other to show gratitude in other to receive
futher blessings.
One
of the prayers that can be use as gratitude prayers in Yoruba spirituality can
be located in Odu Ifa Obara Irete. A stanza in this aforementioned Odu
can be used to express gratitude to Olodumare, orisa and Irunmole or our fellow
humans in appreciation or sacknowlegment of what we have received from them.The
prayers goes thus :
