Black hairy tongue is more common in men, people who use intravenous drugs, and those who are HIV-positive.

Symptoms Of Black Hairy Tongue

Other than the appearance of the tongue, most people with black hairy tongue don't have any symptoms orfeel any discomfort. The exception is when there is too much growth of the yeast Candida albicans, which can cause a burning sensation on the tongue. This burning sensation is called glossopyrosis.

Some people complain of a tickling feeling in the back of the roof of the mouth, a metallic  taste in  their mouth, or nausea . In more severe cases, the condition may lead to a gagging feeling. Sometimes, food getting caught inside the extra-long papillae can cause bad  breath.

Prevention And Treatment Of Black  Hairy Tongue


Practicing good oral hygiene is the best way to treat black hairy tongue. Gently brush your teeth twice  a day with a soft toothbrush . Also, brush your tongue. You can use a tongue scraper to make sure you're thoroughly cleaning the area. Drink plenty of water throughout the day to help keep your mouth clean.

Yoruba Herbal Cure For Black Hairy Tongue(Kolobo /Awon Dudu)  by Babalawo Obanifa

*. Eepo egbo lapalapa also known alternatively as Iyalode, Botuje, lobotuje (bark of the root of Jatrophas curcas), Eeru alamo( Xylopia aethiopica) ata wewe (fruit of Capsicum frutescence) omi osan wewe (juice obtain naturally from Citrus Aurantifolia) kahun Bilala (Trona) Eepo igi okikaja (bark of Psuedospondias micro carpa) egbo Eeru iju (Roots of Uvaria chamae).
Put all the ingredients in a pot and pour the juice obtain from lime orange citrus Aurantifolia on it. Boil it for an hour. Uses :take it one cup in the morning and night. Also use it to gargle and mouthwash.

*. Ewe igbe ori akiko, some people called it ewe Agogo igun, apari igun, igbe ori akiko(leave of Heliotropium Indicum), iyo (salt) otin schnapps oju ina (original white dry gin). Pound or crush the large quantity of the leaves of Heliotropium Indicum. Put the crush fresh leave inside dry gin. Filter it. Add some pinch of table salt. Use :take two tables spoon of it 3 times a day or as much as you can.

*. Imi ojo dudu (copper sulphate) omi osan wewe (juice obtain from lime orange with scientific name citrus Aurantifolia) otin schnapps (schnapps or pure dry gin). Get the the dry gin and juice of the lime orange in equal quantity and proportion. Mix the two together and put it inside a bottle. Then grind the Copper sulphate into fine powder add it to the already mix formula explain earlier. Leave it to disolve together. Uses :take two tables spoon of the mixture early in the morning. It will clear your bowel. You might visit toilet.

*. Egbo etipa elila or teteponla (roots of hog weed with scientific name Boerhavia diffusa) Iyere (Piper guineesis) egbo igbayinrin (roots of Solanum anomalum) Oti schnapps (schnapps or dry gin).
All the ingredients mentioned excluding the dry gin will be grind and pour inside the dry gin. Use. A shot of it twice a day. Use some quantity of it to gargle and mouth wash.

*. Igi  teteregun (Costus afer) ogede odo tabi Isu isumeri (Crinum jagus) Eepo igi kaju (bark of Anacardium Occidentale) omidun tabi omi ekan tabi omi ori ogi (supernatural of corn paste). Put all the aforementioned item in pot excluding the supernatant of corn paste. Fill the pot up to cover the items with the supernatant of corn paste. Cook it for 40 minutes. Uses drinks one small cup of it 3 times a day and also use it to gargle your throat three times a day.

*. Eso Abere ogun (twenty seed of Picralima nitida) kahun (Potash)  aridan or aidan (Tetrapleura tetraptera)  otin schnapps (schnapps or pure dry gin). Remove the outer cover of all the twenty seed of the Picralima nitida if you are using one full bottle of one litre dry gin for the decotion. But shell only ten if you are using less than one bottle of schnapps or dry gin. Remove the fleshy part of the Tetrapleura tetraptera, grind the two together with other aforementioned item pour it inside the bottle of gin. Uses :take it two shot a day, one in the morning and night. Use it to gargle and mouth wash too.

*.Eepo inabiri (roots of plumbago Zeylanica) ata wewe (fruits of capsicum frutescence) eso Agogo igun (seed or fruit of Heliotropium Indicum) kahun (Potash) omi osan wewe (juice obtain from citrus aurantifolia). Grind all the aforementioned items together and and put it inside the bottle of citrus aurantifol natural juice. Shake it together well. Uses :take one table spoon of it three times a day.

*. Eepo igi afon (bark of Treculia Africana) Eepo igi asaragba (Bark of Bridelia micrantha) egbo inabiri (root of plumbago Zeylanica) Eepo igi Akomu (Bark of Pycanthus angolensis) Eepo igi abo (Bark of Anvona senegalensis) ata wewe pupa (ripe fruits of capsicum frutescence) Alubosa elewe (Allium aescalonicum) kahun Bilala (strong Potash or Trona). All items should be put inside a pot add water to it boil it for 35 minute to make a decotion. Uses one shot three times a day. As usual in black tongue treatment gargle mouth wash your throat with it.

*. Imi ojo pupa (yellow sulphur) ewe igi ajekobale (leave of croton amabilis) omi osan wewe (juice naturally obtain from citrus aurantifolia. Grind the leaves and the sulphur together to fine powder add it to the juice obtain from citrus aurantifolia. Uses : one tea spoon daily. Also use it to mouth wash your throat.

*. Isu ara eso aidan (fleshy part of Tetrapleura tetraptera) Eeruu Alamo(xylopia aethiopica) egbo awogbarun (petveria alliaceae) egbo inabiri (root of plumbago Zeylanica) baka (Chrysophyllum delevoyi,) alubosa elewe (Allium aescalonicum) ewe taba (leaves of Nicotiana tobacum) atare meji  ( two pods aframomum melegueta) otin schnapps (pure dry gin or schnapps) omi osan wewe (juice naturally obtain from citrus aurantifolia)  grind all the ingredients together add pure dry gin and citrus aurantifolia juice in adequate propotion. Shake it well together. Uses :take one shot of it the decotion morning and night. Also use it to gargle and clean your tongue and throat.

*. Eepo igi osan Agbalumon (Bark of Chrysophylum albidum) Eeru Alamo (xylopia aethiopica) aloomu tabi eya Orun (alum) ata wewe (fruit of capsicum frutescence. Oko ogede weere/orukundun ogede wewe (unripe fruit of musa sapentium) Eepo egbo Ifon (bark of root of Olax subscorpiodea) Eepo igi ira inu odan (bark of Bridelia ferruginea) ata wewe (capsicum frutescence) Eepo egbo lapalapa (bark or root of jatrophas curcas) kahun Bilala (Trona). Just get all the aforementioned root fresh. Wash them. Remove their bark from the roots and place it inside pot. EEPO IGI Osan Agbalumon (corteza de Chrysophylum albidum) Eeru Alamo (xylopia aethiopica) aloomu tabi eya Orun (alumbre) ata wewe (fruto de frutescence pimiento Todos los ingredientes antes mencionados deben nacer en agua durante 35 minutos Usos: utilizar el decotion a Hacer gárgaras y limpiar la lengua y la garganta tres veces al día.


*. Eepo igi emi inu odan gidi (Corteza de Butyrospermum paradixum) eso osan wewe mejo (8 frutos citrus aurantifolia). Cortar los frutos de aurantifolia cítricos en mitades, la capa de la parte inferior de la olla con él, a continuación, cortar la corteza de Butyrospermum en pedazos y poner sobre ellos.
