The word orisa is derive from two Yoruba words, ori (head) and sisa (selection). So the word orisa is derived from the words ori sisa, which mean selection of head. So orisa simply mean selected head. It may be a spiritual been that descended from heaven in ancient time or person born out of human beings, that have tracend ordinary human both in their character and life history wish might have lead to their post humus deification.
